We just wrapped up our first wedding of the season last week and I must admit, it took me a while to find something to wear (to the rehearsal dinner, luckily I was in the wedding so that part was easy). Whenever an event or wedding comes up and I say I have nothing to wear, it’s always met with “oh yeah right.” I have a closet full of clothes yes, but I don’t have a closet full of dresses, and certainly not ones that are formal. I don’t know why, but I always find it difficult to dress for a wedding. You want to be comfortable, you want to be able to dance (most importantly), and you want to wear something appropriate (so many rules it’s hard to keep track). Given the amount of messages, emails and comments from all of you asking for advice on what to wear, I can assume I’m not the only one that finds it quite difficult. So, I pulled together dresses in different colors, styles, fabrics, lengths and price points to hopefully help you with your search or least to narrow it down. I must confess I am eyeing this gold velvet dress from Reformation for a NYE wedding (it may be sitting in my cart as we speak). This dress I wore to my cousin’s rehearsal dinner was quite a hit. It’s a great length for those of us that aren’t 6 feet tall (it’s floor length on me and I’m 5’6″). For shoes, I can’t wear anything over 3 inches. Keep in mind the location of the wedding, if any part of it is outdoors I recommend wearing a block heel, nobody wants to walk around in grass with their heels getting stuck every step. If it is outdoors, you will probably need a coat or a wrap. I almost always wear one of my White and Warren travel wraps (which are also part of the Shopbop sale right now). For the rehearsal dinner I wore this Anthropologie Scarf and it was super soft and cozy. If you need me, I’ll be on the dance floor.
