Valentine’s Day Cocktail: The Dorothy Parker

Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays people seem to either love or hate. Even if you’re not a huge fan, who can argue with showing the special people in your life some love? Everyone can use a little extra these days. I celebrate with family, my husband, and girlfriends and this cocktail is perfect for any Valentine’s Day get-together. Full disclosure—it packs quite the punch, so drink responsibly!

The Dorothy Parker

Here’s how to make this tasty and pretty cocktail:

1.5 oz of citrus flavored vodka
.5 oz of triple sec
.25 oz black raspberry liqueur
.5 oz of freshly squeezed lemon juice

Combine these four ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a glass. Top off with a brut champagne, some ripe blackberries and stir sticks. I love these designs from The Pink Orange!

If you’re curious about the where the name of this cocktail comes from, Dorthy Parker was a notable literary figure and Hollywood writer. She was known for her quick wit and take no shit attitude.

One of her most famous quotes? “One more drink and I’ll be under the host!” Sassy and sarcastic, a drink bearing her name seems like the perfect way to ring in any Valentine’s Day celebration. Cheers friends!

There was no one more clever than Dorothy Parker. She is literally my idol so a drink in her honor makes perfect sense! “If you want to know what God thinks of money, just look at the people he gave it to.”

Wasn’t she just the best? Her quotes are so feisty and funny. Woman after my own heart, the drink is as equally kick ass as she is.
