HOW is it mid-July? I am trying not to freak about the fact that we are half way through summer but it is going by way too fast. Maybe because it’s the first semi-normal summer we’ve had in 3 years, and the days are passing by at an all too quick pace. I think in some ways I’m trying to make up for all the things we didn’t do over the last few years. I’m not sure what my point is, but I guess what I’m saying is I’ve been getting dressed in real clothes a lot more, and I thought I’d share some of the pieces I’ve been reaching for the most.
I tend to be an outfit repeater. I go through phases of having wardrobe items I live in, and then I basically rotate through the same things over and over again. Here’s some of the outfits I’ve been wearing on repeat this summer. Does anyone else do this? What have you been wearing this summer?
Wardrobe Pieces on Repeat This Summer
Daughters of India Dresses, ABLE Bailey Denim Jacket
I just wrote a review of Daughters of India dresses last week, and I have definitely been living in them this summer. They are just so easy. They’re comfortable and light, the fabric is breezy and thin so they’re great for hot days, but there’s enough fabric they it’s not see through. The Kyra mini is a personal favorite for really hot days and the midi length is also great. I can’t say enough good things they have become a wardrobe staple for sure. I’ve had a lot of questions about sizing. I think they run pretty true to size maybe a little big. And I have all dresses in an xs and they fit well, roomy but not too big.
I got the ABLE Bailey Denim Jacket when I was at HQ in Nashville this spring to work on the samples for my fall collection. It’s the perfect balance of feeling worn in and vintage but without the distressing. It’s super soft but non-stretch denim so I recommend getting your true size. Make sure you use my code JAK15 for 15% off your purchase.
Madewell Relaxed Denim Shorts, Birkenstocks, ABLE x Karla Reed Belt Bag
I can not wear anything tight anymore, but especially in the summer. I really don’t like my clothes feeling restrictive and that’s why I keep reaching for these Madewell relaxed denim shorts. They are super comfy, not too tight and a great length. They definitely run big, I went two sizes down, but once you find the right fit you won’t want to take them off. I typically wear them with my Sézane Conrad Tee or this ribbed ABLE tank (JAK15 for 15% off), and a striped shirt (the Saint James Meridame or Sézane Mariniere).
I’ve been so happy with the Franca Birkenstocks I got this summer. They took about a day to break in and now they barely ever come off my feet. I like the skinnier straps and gold buckles, and the fact that they’re adjustable is really nice for my narrow feet.
The Karla Belt Bag (pictured at the top of this post) has become another favorite this summer especially for date nights and times when I don’t want to bring a big tote with me. It’s just the right size for cards, keys, and phone and feels super lightweight. It’s very adjustable too so you can change the length depending on how you want to wear it.
Paige Silk Tank, Sézane Paloma Tote, Sam Edelman Sandals
I’ve had this silk tank from Paige for years (I have it in black too). It’s one of my favorite wardrobe pieces because it just instantly elevates an outfit. In the summer I usually wear it with jeans and sandals if we’re going out to eat. Speaking of sandals I got the Sam Edelman Haydee this year (to replace my Gala sandals I’ve had for years) and they’re great. Very comfy and chic with a more square shaped toe. They needed very minimal breaking in and I like that they look good casual or dressy. I’ve worn them with everything from jean shorts to my Daughters of India dresses.
I like to switch up my bags for the seasons and I’ve had so many compliments on this straw Sézane Paloma tote. It’s roomy but not too big that it feels like you’re carrying around a massive bag. There’s two side pockets and for the interior I use a few leather pouches to hold loose items.
