The Ultimate Getaway: Luxury Living at Malliouhana

Time to get in the spirit of dreaming about (and deciding to book) warm weather getaways. As snow flurries fall from the sky outside I take extra joy in sharing this photo diary from our trip to Anguilla. Our stay at Malliouhana was nothing short of magical. From our dreamy room with ocean views to the gorgeous crystal clear water it was truly a trip to remember. Scroll through for photos and details of our stay. More photos from our trip are here, here and here.

The island’s biggest summer festival, Carnival is filled with music, beach barbecues, boat racing and pageantry. These photos are from the race at Meads Bay.

Anguillans anchor their boats on the beach and it’s an all day party.

We spent most evenings at one of the two bars at Malliouhana. There is formal and casual dining, we usually opted for more casual near the infinity pool overlooking the ocean. I remember that cocktail, it was SO good.

We had the most beautiful room that overlooked Meads Bay. There is nothing better than waking up to an ocean view.

Breakfast was one of my favorites because it always consisted of the most amazing fresh fruit and pastries.

The water is so clear in Anguilla. I’ve been to the Caribbean multiple times, but this is different. I’ve never seen anything like it. Snorkeling is amazing.

We met so many friendly locals willing to offer suggestions of places to check out or eat.

We made a day trip to Scilly Cay which I highly recommend if you’re visiting Anguilla. The only way to get there is by boat but it’s less than 1 minute from the main island.

Malliouhana has bikes to use if you want to explore the island or ride to another resort. There’s also tennis courts (and a tennis pro if you want lessons) and tons of other fun activities.

Like this little cliff to jump off. Trust me it’s not very high but it’s still fun.

All around the hotel and the island you can find seagrapes. They are edible and actually pretty good. They can be a little tart but definitely worth trying.

The hotel is surrounded by beaches on both sides so you can have your pick! Both are set up with chairs and umbrellas along with hotel staff in case you need water, towels or food from the restaurant.

We definitely spent the majority of our days snorkeling or on stand up paddle boards.

Or lounging by the pool.

Anguilla was truly a magical little island and Malliouhana was the perfect getaway. We truly felt at home, the friendly staff and cozy atmosphere left us feeling sad to leave but so happy and thankful for such a wonderful stay.
