Belle’s Cafe

Belle’s Cafe is a bit of a hidden gem, but whenever I recommend it, I usually receive a thank you message singing its praises—especially for visitors who enjoyed their breakfast or lunch. Located in the Newport Shipyard, it is a great spot for breakfast or lunch on the water (and it’s pup friendly outside). Belle’s has a casual vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. It can get busy, but if you get there early, you may just have the place to yourself. Whatever you do, order the buttermilk pancakes.

Nitro Bar

The coolest spot to caffeinate in Newport, The Nitro Bar sells the creamiest cold brew and a plethora of craft coffee drinks. Try a dirty chai—it will rock your world. In addition, their selection of breakfast sandwiches can’t be beat (plus, there are vegetarian and vegan options). The Nitro Bar has two convenient locations in Newport. Pups are allowed at the tables outside.

Cru Cafe

For you late risers, breakfast is served all day long at Cru Café and it’s BYOB so come prepared and you’ve got brunch. Or if you’re in a to-go type mood, their myriad of sandwich and salad options are perfect to snack on at the beach. Just know that this place gets crowded quickly. Dogs are allowed on the patio outside.

Perro Salado

One of our favorite spots to grab dinner, Perro Salado is a funky historic 18th-century Naval officer’s house turned Mexican joint. Their outdoor patio is a must during the summer months (well-behaved pups are allowed outside). If you like a little kick, the spicy jalapeño margarita is my go-to (or, try the blood orange). Featuring a delicious menu with daily specials and lots of local ingredients, it’s a fun spot to grab a drink or dinner while in Newport. Call ahead for reservations.

Diego’s Newport

Grab afternoon margaritas and tacos on the patio, or swing by for Diegos’s weekend brunch menu with tasty cocktails. Try the Bloody Mary, Cucumber Collins or Upgrade Margarita. Savory breakfast lovers will appreciate Deigo’s Breakfast Torta—it’s topped with their spicy baja aioli. If you’re headed there for dinner, try the nachos and tinga tacos. Diego’s is the perfect place to grab drinks and dinner with friends. Dogs are allowed on the patio!
