Belle’s Cafe
Belle’s Cafe is a bit of a hidden gem, but whenever I recommend it, I usually receive a thank you message singing its praises—especially for visitors who enjoyed their breakfast or lunch. Located in the Newport Shipyard, it is a great spot for breakfast or lunch on the water (and it’s pup friendly outside). Belle’s has a casual vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. It can get busy, but if you get there early, you may just have the place to yourself. Whatever you do, order the buttermilk pancakes.
Nitro Bar
The coolest spot to caffeinate in Newport, The Nitro Bar sells the creamiest cold brew and a plethora of craft coffee drinks. Try a dirty chai—it will rock your world. In addition, their selection of breakfast sandwiches can’t be beat (plus, there are vegetarian and vegan options). The Nitro Bar has two convenient locations in Newport. Pups are allowed at the tables outside.
Cru Cafe
For you late risers, breakfast is served all day long at Cru Café and it’s BYOB so come prepared and you’ve got brunch. Or if you’re in a to-go type mood, their myriad of sandwich and salad options are perfect to snack on at the beach. Just know that this place gets crowded quickly. Dogs are allowed on the patio outside.
Perro Salado
One of our favorite spots to grab dinner, Perro Salado is a funky historic 18th-century Naval officer’s house turned Mexican joint. Their outdoor patio is a must during the summer months (well-behaved pups are allowed outside). If you like a little kick, the spicy jalapeño margarita is my go-to (or, try the blood orange). Featuring a delicious menu with daily specials and lots of local ingredients, it’s a fun spot to grab a drink or dinner while in Newport. Call ahead for reservations.
Diego’s Newport
Grab afternoon margaritas and tacos on the patio, or swing by for Diegos’s weekend brunch menu with tasty cocktails. Try the Bloody Mary, Cucumber Collins or Upgrade Margarita. Savory breakfast lovers will appreciate Deigo’s Breakfast Torta—it’s topped with their spicy baja aioli. If you’re headed there for dinner, try the nachos and tinga tacos. Diego’s is the perfect place to grab drinks and dinner with friends. Dogs are allowed on the patio!

Third Beach
From October 1 to April 30, Third Beach welcomes pups anytime during the day, provided they are leashed. Starting May 1 until September 30, leashed dogs are only allowed on the beach from 5:00 AM to 7:45 AM.
Second Beach
From October 1 to April 30, Second Beach also known as Sachuest Beach welcomes pups anytime during the day, provided they are leashed. Starting May 1 until September 30, leashed dogs are only allowed on the beach from 5:00 AM to 7:45 AM.
First Beach
First Beach, also known as Easton’s Beach, is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach September 30- Last Day Before Memorial Day Weekend. No dogs are allowed on First Beach from MDW -September 30.
