BOOKS TO GIVE AS GIFTS
I am a huge fan of giving books as gifts. Whether it’s poetry, biographies, coffee table books, or children’s books, it’s such a thoughtful and meaningful gift that the recipient can enjoy, especially over the holidays. An easy gift to order online and ship or even better, support your local bookstore and stock up on gifts for some of the loved ones on your holiday list. Here are some of the wonderful books to give as gifts. If you have a book you love to give (or have received) as a gift let us know in the comments!
And Yet by Kate Baer
I cannot wait to dig into Kate Baer’s new book, And Yet. A poetry collection with themes in motherhood, friendship, love and loss– it will provide insight, healing and peace. A great gift for a woman in your life.
Home Body by Rupi Kaur
I always find myself reading and rereading quotes and passages by Rupi Kaur. Her words are powerful, precise, thought-provoking and transformational. The lessons in love, acceptance and embracing change are both genuine and sincere in Home Body.
Smitten Kitchen Keepers
You may know Smitten Kitchen from her successful food blog and various best selling cookbooks. In this new book she gives 100 recipes that aim to make shopping easier, preparation more practical, and food more reliably delicious for the home cook.
Everyone’s favorite home cook Ina Garten has created a cookbook for delicious recipes filled with comfort foods and easy make ahead meals. Just in time for the coziness of winter, try recipes like overnight mac and cheese and hearty soups.
The Lost Cousins
This is one of Marin’s favorite books. Given to her by one of her own cousins, The Lost Cousins is such a meaningful way to share the beauty of the world with our little ones. This story of a grandad and his grandchildren on the search to find their long lost cousins all over the globe is both adventurous and interactive as kids uncover “seek and find” treasures on each page. A wonderful bed time story.
The Velveteen Rabbit
The Velveteen Rabbit is a timeless classic that never grows old and will be cherished in children’s book collections for years to come. The story tells the tale of a well-worn toy rabbit who is whisked away by a magic fairy to “Rabbitland.” Here he becomes real and cherished forever. Telling a tale about abandonment and learning to love and be loved again with the help of a little magic. Gift to the little dreamer in your life.
The Outdoor Table
Vermont native Alanna O’Neill puts her photography talent on display in this beautiful book filled with simple yet beautiful recipes along with tips and insights for creating easy and elegant gatherings.
Author Karen Mordechai celebrates the magic of gathering, through the connection of cooking and sharing meals. No fussy recipes here, Karen’s simple, seasonally driven recipes, will bring inspiration for both the novice and experienced cook.
The Only Woman
For your favorite feminist, The Only Woman is the perfect book to adorn a coffee table and inspire with incredible stories of females entering a mans world. The beautiful use of pictures and words to capture the spirit of each influential female is both powerful and simplistic.
The Man Behind The Maps
I gave this to Craig last year and it was a hit. I love when guests come over and flip through the pages of this beautiful book featuring hand painted trail maps from over 200 ski resort trail maps by legendary artist James Niehues during his 30-year career.
One of my favorite books to pick up and read. Cleo Wade’s Heart Talk is full of poems, mantras, affirmations and other daily pep talks that will leave you feeling inspired and empowered. A wonderful book to keep on your night stand.
A Thousand Mornings
I guess I’m a sucker for poetry but I love Mary Oliver and this book of poems my cousin gave me as a gift last year for Christmas is just wonderful. She brings beauty to the everyday and small moments. A lovely book to gift to a friend.
