Color of the Moment: How to Wear Red this Season

Jess Ann Kirby shares how to wear red on red this holiday season with a cable knit sweater and sparkle ankle boots

Why don’t I ever wear red? A question I’ve asked myself since I wore this combo a few days ago. I think I’ve always been a little intimated by it because the color makes such a statement, but I am officially on board and there’s no turning back. Of course a head-to-toe red outfit is great for holiday but it’s wearable beyond seasonal parties and gatherings. A few weeks ago on Instagram I asked you guys if you wanted more casual or dressy holiday outfit ideas. Casual was the winner (by a lot), but there were a few on team dressy, and I think this outfit checks both boxes. A cable knit sweater with a feminine satin skirt and sparkly ankle booties, a holiday outfit that’s equal parts cozy and fancy. I love the idea of a monochrome red look particularly with the mixed texture of cable knit and satin. These pieces are gorgeous together but just as great on their own. Pair this sweater with a pair of coated denim and metallic flats. Style the skirt with a chunky knit sweater in a gorgeous neutral. When I first got these booties I questioned their wearability, but I’ve already worn them three times and definitely plan on styling them all season long. This colder weather has me getting into the holiday spirit much quicker than usual, and I’m perfectly ok with it!

I’ve always loved the colour red but lately I haven’t been wearing it much (sadly). In fact, I don’t think I actually own anything red in my wardrobe! Jeez, I gotta fix that …

I love this look, but red is really not may color, I like wine or burgundy more. It’s my skin tone I think. But you look stunning and I spy that velvet bow.

I too have found a new obsession with the color red after purchasing a J. Crew red wool jacket for the fall/winter. I’ve received so many compliments on it and it has become a staple of my outfits. I’m always on the hunt for red pieces now! Love your outfit as always!
