As many of you know collecting cookbooks has become a bit of a hobby of mine. I love flipping through the pages finding ideas and inspiration to make dishes at home. I don’t always follow the recipes exactly but that’s the beauty of it. You can make it your own, and if nothing else I find cookbooks encourage me to do more cooking at home. Here are some of our favorite cookbooks.

Home Grown – I always recommend this cookbook as a gift idea for guys. It’s one of Craig’s favorites because of the comfort food type recipes with fresh ingredients and a New England feel. The chapters are split up by landscape (ocean, farm, garden and ochard, etc.). There’s also a section for specialties by state.

Good Clean Food – This was the cookbook that really kicked off my love for and collection of cookbooks. Written by Lily Kunin it’s a beautifully photographed easy to follow collection of plant-based recipes. Her recipes are healthy, simple and most importantly delicious.

Burma Superstar – This was a gift from my brother and his girlfriend and for any of you that have been to the restaurant in San Francisco you’ll know why this made the list. We can’t visit SF without making at least one trip to Burma Superstar, and the cookbook has all of the recipes from their famous dishes. The way the cookbook is compiled they start out with easier recipes and then move into more complex dishes.

Eat Beautiful – I’ve given this cookbooks as a gift multiple times and it’s always a hit. With a focus on recipes and ingredients to help you glow from the inside out it also has tips for what to avoid and how to target specific issues.

The Beauty Chef – Some of these recipes are a bit more complex but can also be easily modified. Written by the founder of the natural beauty brand The Beauty Chef it contains tons of recipes to help you get glowing skin and better gut health. Most of the recipes are gluten and dairy-free and the photography is so beautiful I find myself just flipping through for inspiration.

The Love & Lemons Cookbook – I love this cookbook because it’s organized alphabetically by ingredient. So if you’ve got something in the house you want to cook with or maybe an abundance of something in your garden, flip through and find a recipe. Easy to follow and all vegetarian it’s a great one for those looking to eat more plant based.

Half Baked Harvest – This is a newer addition to my collection and has quickly become one of my absolute favorites. You’ll find lots of comfort food recipes along with decorating tips and beautiful photography.

The Year of Cozy – Organized by month, this is a book of recipes, projects and crafts to do all year long. It includes tons of great recipes (and crafts to go along with them).

Have you checked out the Moosewood Restaurant Table cookbook? It’s all vegetarian, the book is beautifully photographed, and the dishes are delicious. I just made the herbed quinoa salad with chickpeas, apricots and green olives and it is AMAZING.

Half Baked Harvest, the cookbook and website are both on my list of favorites as well. Since you like Half Baked Harvest you’ll probably like Smitten Kitchen. The website is a great resource and there are two cookbooks, maybe three, I have two. I’m a sucker for cookbooks.
