How To Wear A Tunic Sweater

It is still very much winter here and will be for some time. We have had close to two feet of snow in the last two weeks with snow almost every day in the forecast. We are loving it and taking full advantage. Enjoying the outdoors in the middle of winter is all about having good gear. It makes a huge difference. If you dress for the weather you can have fun no matter what. Backcountry is currently having their semi-annual sale so I wanted to share some of my favorites that are currently up to 50% on sale. Now thru 2/9, you can get an additional 20% off select styles of Backcountry Gear and Apparel and Stoic casual fleece & insulation. For anything not on sale, use code JESSANN15 for 15% off your first order (exclusions apply).
These are some of my go-tos for winter and throughout the seasons.

And if a picture is worth a thousand words, we were all on cloud nine the day we took these photos because Nora had been so sick for the week prior, not even getting out of bed, and no appetite. This was the first day she was so excited to go for a walk and eat and we were all so happy.

My Favorites from Backcountry’s Semi-Annual Sale

Jackets

Patagonia Retro Pile Jacket

I actually got the men’s version of this jacket (in a size small) because I love the color (pictured below in oak grove). It’s super warm and also great for layering. If it’s sunny out I can wear this alone for walks, sledding, etc. and if it’s colder I will layer this under my snowboarding jacket. In fact, I love wearing it around the house too.

Patagonia Los Gatos Zip Jacket

Another trusty old favorite, this fleece is so warm and soft. It washes really well and is a great pullover for fall, winter and spring (and even cold summer nights especially in New England). It’s great for spring skiing over bibs or for warmer winter days I will wear it over a thermal top.

Leggings

Prana Pillar Legging

Sound familiar? Probably because I can’t stop talking about these leggings. They are so comfortable, I love how they fit, and they’re great for fall/winter because they are thick enough to keep your legs warm. I wear them alone or under my snowboarding pants. I have them in size small I think they fit pretty true to size. Pictured below is the leggings in rye green.

Base Layers

Smartwool Merino 150 Long Sleeve Base Layer

This lightweight base layer from Smartwool is so awesome. Keeps you super warm and dry for outdoor activities. I can wear it with a light Patagonia jacket and I am toasty most days. If it’s really cold I will wear this, a patagonia fleece and my puffy coat or snowboarding jacket.

Sunglasses

Smith Transporter Chromapop Polarized Sunglasses

I’m a huge fan of Smith brand sunglasses and goggles. I’ve had their Cheetah polarized sunnies for YEARS. I got this pair recently and I love them. Awesome year round sunnies and they are polarized so especially great for really bright snowy winter days and those sunny summer days on the water.
