Summer may be off to a (tremendously) slow start here in New England, but it’s not stopping me from curating my warm weather wardrobe. While the basics – denim shorts, tees, breathable dresses and comfy beach sandals—may always be in my closet, I love the flexibility of summer accessories. As opposed to the required functionality necessary for winter accessories (to survive the harsh weather), in the summer everything can be a little more carefree. How easy it is to wear a plain white t-shirt, throw a bandana in your hair and carry a woven beach bag for a look that’s effortless yet pulled together. Accessories also help keep my curated wardrobe fresh and exciting, even if I’m wearing my closet staples year after year. These are the easy to style summer accessories I’m loving…

Hats
It’s one of my (style) goals to wear more hats this season. Physically, that is, and not metaphorically! It’s one of those accessories that I often forget or forgo because it seems inconvenient, but whenever I look at my style icons, I always wish that I tried to incorporate them more. A simple straw version like the ever-classic Brixton will be my go-to.

Bandanas
Last year, Jess posted this video on How to Wear a Bandana Scarf and it totally inspired me on all of the ways that a simple scarf in a colorful shade can bring so much style to an outfit. I usually tend to wrap it around my neck, but this summer I’m going to experiment more with using them as hair accessories– or as a belt. You’ll find me in a muted yellow or orange version.

Totes
From a day in the city, to the beach, a straw tote is really great for all of the things I want to carry around with me in the summer. I love the idea of a straw bag in a medium or large size that will really function the way I need it to.
Yes loving each piece for the summer! I’ve really been into bandanas lately!
