My Favorite Mineral Sunscreen

With summer finally on the horizon and beach days ahead I wanted to round up my favorite mineral sunscreens. I’ve tested so many over the last few years and these are consistently the ones that come out on top. Mineral sunscreen, also referred to as physical sunscreen provides a physical barrier between your skin and the rays of the sun. One complaint about mineral sunscreen is that it can leave a white cast, so today’s round up has all of my favorite options that don’t do that! I’ve also included some great options for toddlers and kids.

My Favorite Mineral Sunscreen

Face

Bright Eyed 100% Mineral Eye Cream – I love this eye cream and use it daily. I typically will put my regular eye cream underneath because I find it tends to settle into fine lines if I don’t.

Supergoop! Mineral Sheerscreen SPF 30 – This is a great everyday sunscreen that blends in really nicely. I use this as the last step in my skincare routine. If you watch this IG video of my skincare routine you can see how well it absorbs (last step in the video).

Saie Sunvisor SPF 35 – I just discovered this from Saie but it’s so good. It almost feels like a sunscreen and a skincare product. My skin looked so dewy and glowy when I applied. It can be worn on it’s own, it’s sheer, or it looks gorgeous under makeup.

Supergoop Cloud 9 100% Mineral Balm – I used this all winter and it was amazing, especially for dry skin. I would put it on Marin’s cheeks for sunny snow days and it prevented chapped skin and sunburns. It glides on easily and rubs in quickly.

Lips

Supergoop Cloud 9 100% Mineral Balm – As mentioned above I really love this stuff and I put it on my lips all winter long. Definitely plan to use it for beach days this summer.

Body

Babo Botanicals SPF 30 (for kids) – This one does leave a little bit of a white cast but it’s amazing for sensitive toddler skin. I recently put it on Marin on a really sunny day and it lasted for hours, even in and out of the kiddie pool. The spray makes it so easy to apply.

Beautycounter Countersun Mineral Sunscreen – This is easy to rub on, doesn’t feel greasy and leaves no white streaks behind. It’s also pretty water resistant, I’ve applied it before swimming for long periods of time and never been burned when I wear this. I don’t use it on my face because it feels a little to heavy for that. I also really love their sunscreen mist but I go through it a lot faster than the tube. It’s definitely the quickest and easiest application but costs a bit more and I have to buy more frequently.

Self-Tanner

Isle of Paradise – I talk about this brand a lot but they are my favorite self-tanner. I use the drops mixed in with moisturizer at night (in medium) and the mousse is my favorite for all over body self-tanning. I’ve used the tanning water which is pretty forgiving and the body butter which I find has the most tan results for me, but you need to apply well or you’ll see streaks. The best combo for me is applying the mousse with a tanning mit. I will do a video and blog post to describe in more detail how I use the products.

I only use mineral sunscreen too, but am baffled how to remove it. The only thing that seems to work is using a rough washcloth, which makes my skin dry. Any hints? Especially ones that work for removing from little ones?

I know it can be tough getting it off…the beautycounter body one I don’t really have an issue with I just use a sudsy soap like Farmaesthetics or Necessaire. For the baby one I just hope for the best in the tub haha. I do a bubble bath a few nights a week which usually helps.
