My Fall Capsule With ABLE Is Live!
It has been months of planning, designing, picking fabrics, choosing color palettes, tweaking and finalizing but the time has come and my fall capsule collection with ABLE is live. I’m so thrilled about this collection of 10 pieces that I designed with the ABLE team to be worn again and again. We focused on timeless designs that are comfortable and wearable. I wanted to create pieces that can be worn together, so you can pair items in the collection many different ways.
We prioritized inclusive sizing (all but one item is available in XXS-3X) and sustainable clothing, which isn’t just about the clothing materials, but also about the people making them. ABLE is a pioneer of ethical manufacturing in the fashion industry, publishing their wages and ensuring the women who make their items are paid livable wages. ABLE also provides training, financial security, and benefits to allow them to thrive at work, at home and in their communities.
I’ve described the collection as “Fashion with a purpose.” I am passionate about empowering women to feel confident, use their voice for change, and live authentically and with purpose. This collection was created with that in mind. And I hope it brings as much joy to everyone who wears it as I had creating it with the incredible ABLE team.
As always, thank you so much for supporting this collaboration. It’s a dream come true to create something with a brand so aligned with own my personal values and purpose. For some frequently asked questions including shipping info see the very bottom of the post.

Marin Sweater
The Marin Sweater comes in 100% Organic Cotton (GOTS Certified). It’s a chunky stitch knit with mock neck button placket collar and faux horn buttons. It’s that perfect length to tuck in or leave it out. In a nautical stripe or minimalist neutral, you can’t go wrong with either style. Sure to be a wardrobe staple, it’s one of my absolute favorites from the collection because it’s so soft and cozy. It’s slightly slouchy but not too big.
The Marin sweater fits slightly oversized. I’m wearing size small which is a little oversized but doesn’t feel too big. If you don’t want it slouchy I recommend sizing down. Wear it with jeans, straight leg pants, leggings or even layered over a dress. It’s available in stripe and mushroom.
Nora Quilted Jacket
The Nora Quilted Jacket is a special one. It’s the ultimate fall outerwear in a soft quilted jersey with a vintage wash. It’s the jacket that feels like it’s been in your wardrobe for years. You won’t want to take this one off. It’s so comfortable and goes with everything in your wardrobe, from jeans to dresses. Side pockets make it practical and wearable, it’s a true closet hero. Size up for a slightly oversized fit.
It’s subtle but I’ve styled both jackets in size xs and small to show the difference in sizing. The first photo is size small and the second is an xs. I decided to keep the small for my wardrobe because I like the slightly oversized fit.
Newport Tee
An update on a classic, the Newport Tee has a henley vibe in a soft cotton fabric with chic stripes in a relaxed and slightly oversized silhouette. It’s not fitted but not too big. Just right to wear under a sweater or jacket but a standout on its own too. It has a button placket and is great for layering. I’m wearing size xs.
Emma Blouse
The Emma blouse is a truly versatile blouse in a breezy silhouette made in a light cotton voile. It’s perfect for those hot fall days and just as great to layer under a jacket, sweater or blazer. An open v-neck and billowy sleeves with elastic at the opening make it easy to wear so many ways. Dress it up or down all season long. Pregnancy, breastfeeding and postpartum friendly with a roomy fit that can easily be tucked, or not. I’m wearing the Emma blouse in an xs.
Ann Twill Straight Leg
I had my heart set on creating a great straight leg pant for everyday wear. The Ann Twill Straight Leg is made from a cotton/spandex blend so it has the perfect amount of stretch. It’s the ultimate combination of comfort and style. A chic straight leg fit with back patch pockets and horn button. You can’t go wrong with a classic white pant. The pants run true to size.
Pepper Midi Slip Dress
I love a midi slip dress and the ABLE team helped me create one that’s chic, comfortable and versatile. Spice things up in the Pepper Midi Slip Dress. This midi style is a year round staple in a gorgeous silhouette that’s soft and flowy in Royal Crepe Satin (100% viscose). It has a v-neck and adjustable straps. Wear it dressed down with sneakers or style it with ankle booties. Layer under a chunky sweater or wear a light tee underneath. There’s so many ways to style it! It’s comfy and chic, what’s better than that?! If I’m not layering a top underneath I wear it with these pasties. I’m wearing an xs.
Shown styled with the Karla Reed Belt Bag.
Rose Maxi Dress
It doesn’t get any easier than the Rose Maxi Dress. Just throw it on for a pulled together look wherever you’re headed. A comfortable smocked bodice and square neckline add a modern and romantic feel to this maxi dress in a vintage floral pattern. The Rose Maxi has pockets, bra hooks and an an adjustable tie neckline so it’s as functional as it is fashionable. I’m wearing an xs.
Dorset Boot
A gorgeous take on a classic ankle bootie with a slightly pointed toe and walkable 2 inch block heel. The Dorset boot comes in leather or waterproof suede in two gorgeous colors for fall. Wear them with jeans, trousers, dresses, and skirts. They’re versatile and chic with a side zip detail for easy on and off. These run small and narrow at the toe. I recommend going at least a half size up. I am a size 7 and went up to a 7.5.
Jess Slide
A cozy take on one of the biggest trends for fall, the Jess Slipper is a clog reimagined in a cognac leather with faux shearling lining and a rubber outsole. So comfy you’ll never want to take them off! These fit true to size/very slightly small with a molded foot bed so they hold your foot. If you are in between sizes, go to the next size up.
Shown styled with the Mamuye Tote.
Heart Necklace
The Heart Necklace is a special piece, handmade in Nashville, meant to be worn as a token of love. Have it monogrammed with an initial that’s special to you or wear it as reminder to love yourself. With an adjustable chain you can wear it at choker length or longer, whatever suits your style. A piece you can wear everyday, as a reminder of the love that exists in your life. Designed with an adjustable 13-16″ gold-filled chain with a vermeil heart pendant. Monogramming is free.

Until then, their partners will utilize the remainder of their current packaging, as to not create additional waste.

Jess! What a gorgeous collection that I can feel good about supporting on so many fronts! I live in a coastal town on the west coast and your curations always resonate with me. I am a daily reader of your blog and I receive emails from Able. When I saw “Jess Ann a Kirby + ABLE”in my inbox this morning, I felt like a good friend of mine just did something huge. It’s so cool as a reader to recognize the names of the pieces (Nora!! Marin!) Congratulations!!!
That means so much to me Karen. I so appreciate your support, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
This is such an incredible collection! The names of each piece are so thoughtful (Nora 💛) and I’m thrilled to hear about how each piece is made. Now where to begin shopping…. I want it all!
Thank you so much Courtney! It was such a privilege to design it with the ABLE team. I appreciate the love.
I ordered the twill pants and black slip dress. Very classic but on trend styles that I can wear with many things in my closet!
Love both! I can’t wait to hear what you think. So many ways to style both. Thank you Michelle.
Wow! Really lovely pieces. Great job.
Congrats! I had never heard of ABLE but I was intrigued with your previous collaboration since I am sort of a former shopaholic trying to curb my purchasing and buy fewer and more responsible items. I purchased the Harriet sweater and I am completely obsessed. I wore it ALL. THE. TIME. I am in the middle of a major job transition and I had an exhaustingly overworked and rather terrible summer. I told myself I would buy something as a reward… and when I saw this collaboration I purchased the Nora jacket. I am so excited to see it and wear it. Shopping aside (though I appreciate and value your research and insight so much!), I truly enjoy your thoughtful posts. Your words often resonate with me and my life. Although I have not met the few internet personas I follow, I like to imagine what advice they would give me in my times of need. So just know that you are occasionally giving your readers an imaginary pep talk. 🙂 Thank you.
