Today’s JAK Muse is extra special for me because she also happens to be a dear friend. If you don’t already know her, Pam Hetlinger is one of the kindest, hardworking and most stylish women I know. I first met Pam through blogging two years ago (she commented on my blog) and we met for lunch in Providence. We immediately hit it off and have since traveled to Charleston and more recently Panama together. Pam is one of those people that just exudes kindness. Everyone I know that has met Pam loves her just as much as I do. Aside from her sweet manner and killer work ethic this girl is just so effortlessly chic it’s almost not fair to the rest of us. Pam makes EVERYTHING look good, and so without further ado, here’s a bit more about The Girl from Panama.
My ideal Saturday
I love waking up early to go to my hot yoga class (I’m obsessed!) then drive to Malibu with friends to have lunch and drinks over there and then we watch the sunset. It’s the most relaxing kind of saturday for me.
Go-to outfit
Jeans, pointed-toe pumps, a cute t-shirt and a faux-leather jacket for when it gets cold at night.
Favorite social media platform
Instagram! I love that now we have everything in one platform (sorry Snapchat!). (If you’re not already following Pam, she ALWAYS serves up insanely gorgeous street style inspo @pamhetlinger)
Drink of choice
Wine or vodka soda! If I’m having lunch I always like to order a cold glass of Sauvignon Blanc. At night Grey Goose Vodka Soda is always my drink of choice (it has the least calories, right?! 🙂
Best career advice for other women
Make sure you get valuable work experience before launching your own company! I’m so grateful I got to experience a regular 8-5pm kind of job before launching my blog. I learned everything I needed in order to succeed at blogging. From basic email etiquette to analyzing metrics, it really makes things a bit easier when you have some sort of past experience. You learn from past mistakes and apply those key learning points to your own company.
How did you end up coming to the US from Panama?
I always wanted to study in the US, but I knew it was going to be a challenge convincing my parents to let me live alone in a different country. It took me a few months to convince them and then they finally agreed to let me go. It was an amazing experience! It was challenging at the beginning to adjust to a new culture, but now I look back and I realize it made me the independent woman that I am today. I learned so much about life in general! I have been living in the US for almost 7 years now and even though I love my country, I still think moving to the US was the best decision for me.
Something most people don’t know about you
I used to dance and choreograph dance competitions in my high-school in Panama!
Words you live by
With God, nothing is impossible.
Favorite Beach
Maui! I love Hawaii. I can’t wait to go back this Summer!
Bikini or one piece?
I’m really into one pieces right now. I think they look so chic and classy. Now there are a ton of options out there.
Dream travel destination right now?
I have a ton, but my top three are Greece, Morocco and Dubai.
