At first glance I wasn’t particularly excited by Pantone’s 2016 Color of the Year Rose Quartz and Serenity. I’ve always assumed I can’t wear pastels because years ago someone told me they didn’t work with my skin tone. I’ve discovered that’s really not the case (and that you shouldn’t let people tell you what you can and can’t wear!). As I read about the thinking behind Pantone’s 2016 colors, “Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times” I couldn’t help but feel drawn to them. While the two colors together make a pretty pair, I also love monochromatic looks in either shade. Their softness and warm/cool balance make both colors wearable for anyone. And this pretty pink just makes me excited for spring (as snow flurries fall outside my window). Here’s to a 2016 filled with more compassion, relaxation, tranquility and peace. Happy Monday. xx
