How To Do The Coastal Grandmother Aesthetic

Chances are if you’re a person that goes on the internet you’ve seen the Coastal Grandmother Trend. I’m not on TikTok, but that’s where it originated, from TikToker Lex Nicoleta who explains that it’s more of a lifestyle than just a fashion trend. Silly? Maybe, but what’s not to love about linen clothing, tomatoes from the garden, fresh cut flowers and an early bedtime? You don’t need a house on the beach or a Nancy Meyers kitchen to live the Coastal Grandmother lifestyle. “Coastal grandmother is an attempted rejection of life online and an embrace of what is real and tactile and simple.” Honestly, more of that please. This also feels like a trend I’m fully on board with. And it was pretty fun to look back at all of these old photos and outfits that I would 100% still wear! Here’s how to do the coastal grandmother aesthetic.

How To Do The Coastal Grandmother Aesthetic

Coastal Grandmother Style

Coastal grandmother style is all about breezy linen, classic stripes, chic white dresses and easy button downs. As you can probably tell there’s no such as too many stripes in my opinion. In fact, I love the AYR Deep End shirt (it also happens to be an Oprah favorite) and even better with the matching shorts. A straw hat to protect your skin from the sun while gardening and also flowy cotton gauze dress for the farmer’s market. Classic straight leg white jeans and flat sandals for sunset cocktails on the water (or in your backyard) and a heavyweight cotton stripe breton for that chilly ocean breeze. Here’s a few staples to nail the coastal grandmother aesthetic.

  • My favorite soft but crisp blue and white striped button down. Slightly oversized, totally chic.
  • What’s better than a crisp striped button down? A matching set with striped shorts.
  • A chic straw hat to protect your skin while you’re outside tending to the garden.
  • An easy breezy cotton gauze dress that’s flowy, effortless and has pockets. Use code JAK15 for 15% off.
  • You can’t go wrong with a linen jumpsuit in a neutral color. Use code JAK15 for 15% off.
  • Classic leather sandals that will go with everything in your wardrobe.
  • A thick cotton breton for those breezy nights on the water.
  • Classic straight leg white jeans to pair with a simple stripe and leather sandals.
  • A straw tote to bring to the farmer’s market.

Coastal Grandmother Aesthetic Lifestyle

The coastal grandmother aesthetic lifestyle is right up my alley. Main hobbies include gardening, bike rides to the beach, and early morning coffee on the porch. For entertaining think homemade pesto pasta sitting under twinkle lights with fun summery cocktails or chilled white wine served in bee glassware. Little home decor touches like an herb printed cotton tea towel and garden grown peonies or roses in a vintage canning jar by the sink.

Honestly, why not use real grandmothers?
I was very turned off by your use of young models to show what “grandmother style” is.
In fact, they could be my granddaughter.
Totally offended by your obvious ludicrous
sales strategy. Grandmothers are not senile idiots. Please attempt to be less offensively obvious.
The models were lovely and the clothing refreshing, though. I can put you in touch with some real grandmothers.
