Hey Humans Natural Deodorant Review

I wanted to recirculate this review of Hey Humans Natural Deodorant as I often get request for natural deodorant recommendations. I first tested this one almost two years ago and it’s still in my rotation of deodorants. Read on for more.

Occasionally I get the opportunity to test new beauty and skincare products, and when I had the chance to try the new Hey Humans Natural Deodorant I was very intrigued. I am a big fan of natural deodorant and made the switch a few years ago. A few things about the brand founded by Jada Pinkett Smith, the packaging is 99% plastic-free (with the exception of the toothpaste cap), all products are $6 and under, and they are vegan and cruelty-free. There’s also no sulfates, parabens, phthalates or silicones. That all sounds great right, but does it work? Here’s my mini review. Check out my list of other favorite natural deodorants here.

Hey Humans Natural Deodorant Review

The first thing I noticed of course was the packaging. The deodorant packaging is made of FSC® paper which comes from responsibly-sourced wood fiber. When you’re done it can easily be recycled. I was most impressed by the smooth gliding formula, it didn’t pull or feel dry going on. Sometimes natural deodorants can be rough and hard to apply. It comes in 6 different scents, I tested the Coconut Mint which I really like (I noticed the Target website description says “for men” but the deodorant can be used by anyone). It’s not overpowering but it lasts. The deodorant glides on clear, there’s no residue and you only need one swipe. The only time I got sweaty while wearing the deodorant was working out, but to be honest, I’m ok with that. This is deodorant, not anti-perspirant, and I’m ok with sweating, especially if I’m exercising.

Overall I would definitely recommend this natural deodorant.

It’s a great product, especially at this price point. I’ve tried natural deodorants that are several times the price and this one holds up just as well. The one caveat, which I will always mention when talking about natural deodorant, is that if you’ve never used natural deodorant there is a transition period. It took my body a while to adjust to natural deodorant after years of using extra strength anti-perspirants.

You can help the process by detoxing your armpits (a little more on that in this post). You may feel like you’re sweating more when you’re first switching to natural deodorant. It seems that way because anti-perspirants prevent you from sweating, while a natural deodorant will not contain anti-perspirants. I’m always excited to see brands using innovative ways to create less plastic packaging waste. I plan to test out their body products and toothpaste as well.

I’m on my fourth container…I love it…but recently my armpits reacted to it and they have a dark mark on my pit and they are sore. I dont want to go back to regular drugstore deodorant….but idk how long I can stand the soreness.

Oh no that’s not good if it’s giving you a reaction I would stop using it immediately. There are probably other brands that would work for you. It may be an essential oil that’s causing irritation? I would definitely stop using it though. There are other brands that have more sensitive formulations.

I love the ginger rose water deodorant. I’ve lost count how many times I bought it. The packaging is ok. Product does get crumbly and pieces fall off. I now double boil it when I buy a new deodorant and pour it in a 4 oz jar. I massage a small amount on my fingertips and massage it on my armpits. This has worked a lot better for me.
