Occasionally I get the opportunity to test new beauty and skincare products, and when I had the chance to try the new Hey Humans Natural Deodorant I was very intrigued. A few things about the brand founded by Jada Pinkett Smith, the packaging is 99% plastic-free (with the exception of the toothpaste cap), all products are $6 and under, and they are vegan and cruelty-free. There’s also no sulfates, parabens, phthalates or silicones. That all sounds great right, but does it work? Here’s my mini review. Check out my list of other favorite natural deodorants here.
Hey Humans Natural Deodorant Review
The first thing I noticed of course was the packaging. The deodorant packaging is made of FSC® paper which comes from responsibly-sourced wood fiber. When you’re done it can easily be recycled. I was most impressed by the smooth gliding formula, it didn’t pull or feel dry going on. Sometimes natural deodorants can be rough and hard to apply. It comes in 6 different scents, I tested the Coconut Mint which I really like. It’s not overpowering but it lasts. The deodorant glides on clear, there’s no residue and you only need one swipe. The only time I got sweaty while wearing the deodorant was working out, but to be honest, I’m ok with that. This is deodorant, not anti-perspirant, and I’m ok with sweating, especially if I’m exercising.
Overall I would definitely recommend this natural deodorant. It’s a great product, especially at this price point. The one caveat, which I will always mention when talking about natural deodorant, is that if you’ve never used natural deodorant there is a transition period. It took my body a while to adjust to natural deodorant after years of using extra strength anti-perspirants. You can help the process by detoxing your armpits (a little more on that in this post). I’m always excited to see brands using innovative ways to create less plastic packaging waste. I plan to test out their body products and toothpaste as well.
