We recently went on a family road trip and after our son fell asleep in the back seat, we decided to throw on a podcast. It was a long drive. So we needed something to keep our attention for the many hours while driving. With so many podcasts to choose from, it was hard to narrow it down. But eventually, we found the perfect one and it made the time pass much quicker. Now we have a great line-up for all the road trips in our near future.

We are big podcast fans over here. And there is nothing better than something binge-worthy for long drives. Being in the car for a long time can be a drag and nothing makes a drive fly by quicker than a great podcast. If you’ve got a road trip or long drive ahead, here’s a round-up of 10 great podcasts to help the time pass quickly.

Chameleon: Season 1, Hollywood Con Queen

Jess and I love a good con pod and this one delivers. If you loved Anna Delvey, then you will love Chameleon: Season 1. Journalist, Josh Dean and Vanessa Grigoriadis dig into one of the most insane con artist scams you could ever imagine– the infamous Hollywood Con Queen.

Drilled

A true-crime podcast about climate change? Yes. Proclaimed by The Guardian to be, “The best, most important podcast out there right now.” In Drilled, award-winning investigative journalist Amy Westervelt digs into the oil industry and propaganda that has snowballed into our current climate crisis. Currently in its eighth season, Drilled will keep you listening for hours.

The Girl In The Blue Mustang

For all the Dateline fans out there, The Girl In The Blue Mustang is a 6 part series true crime podcast. Keith Morrison tells the story of 18-year-old Michelle O’Keefe who was murdered in her blue Mustang in a park and ride.

Modern Love

For those that aren’t into true crime and looking for something a bit more tender, try Modern Love. In this podcast, host Anna Martin shares the intricate love lives of real people through essays from the New York Times, Modern Love column. I have listened to this one for many years. I always come back to it for the refreshing, heart-warming, heart-breaking and unexpected love stories.

Good Inside with Dr. Becky

For parents who can’t quite turn off their parenting brain, Good Inside with Dr. Becky is a fantastic parenting podcast. Dr. Becky gives the best tips and advice for parenting kids of all ages, personalities and challenges. You may even find yourself healing your own childhood traumas or saying, “oh that makes sense” or “hmm that’s why…” Dr. Becky is all-around wise and provides so much insight into the ways we both parent and grow into humans taking with us all of the experiences that have shaped our being.

Sold a Story

For teachers, parents and readers, Sold a Story is an examination into how teaching kids to read went wrong. Host Emily Hanford investigates the teaching methods that were taught, despite the fact that they were proven to be wrong by scientists decades ago. For literature fanatics this is way better than any true crime pod!

Another great option for those looking for something a bit more introspective, intellectual, thoughtful and spiritual– choose from the rich pool of episodes in On Being with host Krista Tippett. In this latest season, she interviews a poet, healer, scientist, actor and more. Some of my favorite episodes have been The Thrilling New Science of Awe with Dacher Keltner, To Be Made Whole with Ada Limon and Working with Wood, and the Meaning of Life with Nick Offerman.

Michelle Obama The Light Podcast

Michelle Obama’s: The Light Podcast inspired by her new book, The Light We Carry is a dive into her book tour and inspiring interviews with Conan O’Brien, Gayle King, David Letterman, Tyler Perry and Conan O’Brien.
