BRANDS AND GIFTS THAT GIVE BACK
For Giving Tuesday, I wanted to share some brands and gifts that give back this holiday season. In addition, I thought I’d share a small list of some of the organizations we support regularly throughout the year, either through monthly recurring donations or memberships. I feel very grateful we are able to give back in some way, especially during this time that is so difficult for so many. If you have any special causes near and dear to your heart, please feel free to share in the comments so I can check them out. Today in my IG stories I will be matching donations to Every Mom Counts up to $500.
These are the organizations we support regularly through either monthly recurring donations, memberships or other forms of donations:
the NRDC, Natural Resources Defense Council – environmental protections, access to clean air and clean water for all people
the ACLU – fights to protect civil liberties and rights for all Americans in courts across the country.
the NAACP LDF – fighting for racial justice through litigation, advocacy, and public education.
Child & Family Services (RI) – we typically have a family to buy gifts and basic needs for the holidays but this year because of Covid they’ve changed the program. They are accepting gift cards and monetary donations.
Planned Parenthood – ensures access to reproductive health services, education and information as well as advocacy
the Bail Project – provides free bail assistance to low-income individuals enabling people to return home to their families and communities while awaiting their court dates.
The Potter League (RI) – the animal shelter of Newport county.
Uncommon Goods actually has an entire section on their website of gifts that give back. For every purchase of this Climate Action Puzzle $2 goes to support their Better to Give partner, American Forests.
Socks are the #1 most requested clothing item in homeless shelters, so Bombas donates 1 pair of socks for every pair purchased. I really like the bias busters section of their website that helps address common misconceptions and biases about homelessness. These would make a great gift!
I’m a huge fan of clean skincare brand cocokind. They have great products but they also consistently do the right thing as a brand. Today they are donating 100% of profits to one tree planted. Their products are non-toxic, cruelty free, affordable and sustainable. I love their skin butter for myself and for Marin. Very gentle on baby skin.
A jewelry brand frequently recommended by many of you, GLDN donates a portion of proceeds from every sale to various organizations. They also have special collections that give back even more, some up to 100% of proceeds. The toujours pendant honors inseparable love and the sacrifices immigrants make to seek better lives for themselves and their children. 100% of profits are donated to the National Immigration Law Center.
My favorite CBD brand Equilibria is donating 10% to Black Girl Ventures with the purchase of any gift set. The site is also 10% off and for new customers you can get an additional 15% off with my code jessannkirby.
Olive & June
One of my favorite non-toxic nail polishes Olive & June is donating a nail polish and top coat to a doctor, nurse or hospital employee for every purchase today.
Grounds & Hounds
Through the sale of their organic and eco-friendly coffees, Grounds & Hounds supports rescue initiatives and organizations helping dogs in need. 20% of all profits are donated to rescue organizations.
Amour Vert Tees
Fashion brand Amour Vert has sustainability built into their business. From the fabrics they use to their business operations to their packaging and how their workers are treated. The majority of their products are made in California. For the purchase of every tee and tank Amour Vert plants a tree. They’ve planted over 300,000 trees in North America since they opened their doors.
