Girls Getaway in Montauk
Is there anything more fun than a few days at a beautiful resort on the beach with your girl gang? Julia, Grace and I jumped at the chance to spend a few days catching up and unwinding at Gurney’s Montauk and it was just what the doctor ordered. The world of blogging, entrepreneurship and working for yourself can be isolated and at times lonely. The three of us keep in touch regularly via email, texts and occasional calls, but getting together in person was such a treat.
From ordering room service and listening to waves crash from our ocean view rooms to spa treatments at the Seawater Spa our time was spent catching up and chilling out.
I’ve only been to Montauk once briefly in the summer and the trip was so quick I didn’t even get to the beach during the day. I was absolutely mesmerized by the beach at Gurney’s. The water was unlike anything I’ve seen in the Northeast. Crystal clear and turquoise blue I could stare at it all day, and the good news is at Gurney’s you can.
We felt so spoiled having the place almost entirely to ourselves. The weather was chilly but the sun was shining and we had two absolutely gorgeous days.
The beach seemed to go on forever in both directions. The water was really cold and I was so tempted to swim, I’m already regretting the fact that I didn’t.
When we arrived we indulged in a delicious lunch at Tillie’s. The food was so good. Avocado toast, tuna poke, calamari and yummy salads, basically my idea of a perfect meal.
The sunsets in Montauk are spectacular. Both nights the sky turned a purple, pink and the water turned a deep aqua blue. Watching the sunset from my room was pretty amazing.
On our second day we headed over to Deep Hollow Ranch (for fans of the show The Affair this is the ranch where they film the show). I immediately started fantasizing about my dream life, living on a farm with horses (goals). The property is absolutely beautiful.
We hopped on our horses and our guide Skylar took us through winding trails that led us to one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen.
My horse Davis was so sweet. Getting back on a horse brought back fond memories of riding when I was a kid. I immediately texted my Dad and said “I want to start riding again!” There’s nothing like the feeling of being on a horse, it was truly magical.
After riding we came back and were treated to massages at the Seawater Spa. I don’t remember the last time I felt so relaxed. Julia and I also hit the sauna and steam room. On our last night we had an incredible 4 course meal at one of the Residences at Gurney’s. The incredibly beautiful homes (there are still a few for sale) are right on the beach and include features like butler service and access to all of the amenities at Gurney’s. Spending time with Julia and Grace catching up, sharing stories and advice and bouncing ideas off each other was just what I needed to get motivated and excited for the last quarter of the year. A huge thank you to Gurney’s Montauk for an amazing few days.
