Hi and happy Friday. I’m in a state of delirium after a sleep deprived week. We got rid of Marin’s binky and moved her to a big girl bed, and let’s just say it’s not going smoothly. I’m starting to feel like I felt when she was a newborn and really hoping we can get over this hump soon because I don’t do well on no sleep, does anyone?

On the work front there’s been a lot of change and things going on behind the scenes with my ABLE collection and the new project I’m launching this fall. I’m also finalizing the online community so look for more details on that in the coming weeks. And somehow, July is pretty much over, and so is my Instagram break. I have thoughts to share on that, a month away has been eye opening to say the least. I hope you’re all doing as best you can given the state of things. Take care of yourselves, and enjoy this week’s links.

Here’s the best of the week…

Mackenzie Fierceton was championed as a former foster youth who had overcome an abusive childhood and won a prestigious Rhodes Scholarship. Then the University of Pennsylvania accused her of lying.

These zucchini corn fritters look fantastic!

Can’t believe it’s that time, but I ordered Marin her L.L. Bean backpack for school (lilac). Last year they were all sold out by the time I thought of it so I’m getting my order in early.

Something I think about a lot, do cats and dogs remember their past? (Jess)

Apparently the extreme heat is making all of us really cranky…Super, because interactions have been so pleasant already!

Tata Harper is 25% off orders over $100 w/code TATABDAY. My favorites are the resurfacing mask, hydrating floral mask (I wear this overnight), and the repairative moisturizer.

Social media is undermining democracy. What can we do to stop it?

An interesting read about how far millenials have strayed from home. More than two thirds of young adults live in the same area they grew up (and most move less than 100 miles away).

I went to dinner with a friend who was asking for a hair brush recommendation for her super thick hair, so of course I sent her the infamous Detangle and Massage Brush.

Text your friends!

Never underestimate the power of the casual check-in.

I’m very happy with Marin’s big girl bed. It’s a twin with trundle and it’s solid wood. It’s also much less expensive than the one I originally ordered that has been backordered for months.

Why Matt Gaetz’s ugly rhetoric about women and abortion matters.

Instagram attempts to explain itself.

Speaking of Instagram, this is an update they quietly made, but parents (or anyone concerned about privacy) should know about.

Who isn’t curious about what the homes of early KonMari adopters look like now?!

It always feels like there’s never enough time. Here’s an interesting essay on how living on Mars time taught someone how to slow down.

We are insanely jealous of anyone who got to see Joni Mitchell play last weekend at the Newport Folk Fest. Even viewing the video is transcendent.

  1. How sweet that you’ve already picked out Marin’s LL Bean backpack! That is such a core memory of mine growing up, every few years getting to pick out a new one from LL Bean. (Though, my mom encouraged us to keep them for 5+ years since they are such great quality!) Hard to tell an 8-year-old that, though… The prints always got me! 🙂

I was pretty excited not gonna lie. I made the mistake of telling her about it and now she asks me everyday if her backpack is here haha!

Of course the Instagram link doesn’t work. Possibly they don’t want us to know!
