The above photo is what the river in Woodstock should look like this time of year. Low, and barely trickling down stream. Instead, it’s a raging brown river filled with debris flowing higher than it does even at it’s peak in the spring during mud season. If you’ve seen the news this week, you probably know what’s going on in Vermont.
There has been catastrophic flooding all over the state. We fared ok at our house in Woodstock, we are still on a boil water alert, but many places did not. Some businesses in town were devastated by the storm. Some communities will take years to recover. The community and the state has come together, but this week was a reminder that no one and nowhere is immune from the effects of a warming planet.
Wishing you all a good weekend. Wishing for some sun and a little less precipitation for those of us in need of a reprieve.
