Plan an unforgettable Block Island getaway with this guide to the top 10 must-see spots. From stunning beaches to historic landmarks, this itinerary has everything you need to make the most of your trip. Block Island is a 60 minute ferry ride from Perrotti Park in Newport. This location does not accommodate vehicles (bikes allowed). For auto transport via ferry leave from Pt. Judith. 

Bike The Island

It’s hard to beat seeing Block Island by bike. It can be hilly so if you have an e-bike even better. Bike around the island and don’t miss the lighthouses. If biking isn’t your thing you can also rent a scooter. 


Scotch Beach

A great family friendly beach with long stretches of white sand and bigger waves. Scotch Beach has less rocks so great for boogie boarding and body surfing. 


Mohegan Bluffs

If you’ve researched Block Island you’ve probably seen the famous stairs down to Mogehan Bluffs Beach. 141 steps lead from 200-foot cliffs to a secluded, rocky beach named for a 16th-century battle. Worth the trip for the views alone.


Glass Onion

A must stop for shopping on Block Island. The historic cottage has a beautifully curated selection of jewelry, clothing, home goods and more.


Southeast Light

Southeast Light sits atop the Mohegan Bluffs and is the easier of the two lighthouses on BI to access. Built in 1875, the lighthouse has a 52-foot brick and granite tower, and has been named a National Historic Landmark. Take in stunning views of the Atlantic from the grounds.


The Oar

Casual seafood and sushi with spectacular views and a great atmosphere. Don’t miss out on the mudslides!


Persephone’s Kitchen

An adorable cafe with coffee drinks, yummy breakfast options like ricotta and honey toast, smoothies and lunch sandwiches. 


The Barn at Spring House

A romantic venue with an exceptional dining experience. The Barn features an open kitchen and a wood fired grill, with a delicious and fresh menu. The Barn is suited for adults and children ages 12+.


Island Bound Bookstore

Shop for souvenirs and your next beach read at Island Bound Bookstore.  Located next to the post office, it offers lots of room to relax and browse. An inviting children’s section offers fun activities for rainy days.


The Greenway Trails

Covering over 30 miles of the island’s amazing landscape The Greenway trails include acres of land you can’t see from Block Island’s paved roads. A family friendly activity any time of year it’s an incredible way to explore the untouched beauty of Block Island’s landscape. Don’t miss Rodman’s Hollow and Clay Head Trail.
