Best Series To Watch Right Now

HBO MAX

White Lotus

If you haven’t already binged, White Lotus put this one at the top of your list. I’m actually incredibly jealous, because I wish I could unsee both seasons and watch them all over again for the first time. It’s that good! It has a little bit of everything from drama, to romance, to comedic relief and suspense. Believe me, you won’t be bored and it will be hard not to watch it all in one sitting. The acting is amazing, the characters are so rich, lovable, hatable (in the best of ways) and interesting and the plot is riveting. I love that they film in beautiful, warm vacation destinations and they make fun of the ridiculousness of the wealthy class– first world problems!

ABBOTT ELEMENTARY

Abbott Elementary has made big waves recently. This “mockumentary” sitcom chronicles the true hardship of being a teacher in our current world. In this series, a group of passionate and dedicated teachers in Philadelphia work hard to use their love for teaching to bring their students success. Also available on Hulu.

Veep

Veep is an American political satire comedy featuring Julia Louis-Dreyfus and a stellar cast. Seven seasons of absolutely hilarious episodes and storylines.

THE SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS

The Sex Lives of College Girls follows four college roommates at a prestigious New England College. The comedy drama captures the college experience as the roommates navigate life, love, friendships, finances, their independence, and of course, sex.

Netflix

Emily In Paris

Looking for something light and easy breezy during this depressing time of year? Emily In Paris is your girl. Don’t expect to be wowed by the acting, plot or storyline, BUT it’s highly entertaining, the outfits are fun and ridiculous and you will somehow find yourself consumed by all of the love triangles. This is the perfect winter escape to Paris.

Wednesday

I haven’t watched Wednesday, yet as I thought it was too “Halloweeny” for winter, but have since been told it is fantastic by several friends. Wednesday is in fact, not a Halloween show and instead follows the famous, Wednesday Addams (from the Addams Family) as she investigates a murder spree at Nevermore Academy. Said to be, “smart, sarcastic and a little dead inside” Wednesday is one you won’t want to miss!

Derry Girls

Derry Girls follows five spirited teenagers as they navigate life and the political conflict of Northern Ireland in the 1990s. Another series highly recommended by our community, Derry Girls is laugh-out loud funny and will provide great entertainment for a cold winter day.

The Bear

Jess just binged The Bear with Craig and they loved it! She said it was both funny and heartwarming with phenomenal acting and storylines. She would 11/10 recommend!

Fleishman Is In Trouble

Our first show of January was Fleishman Is In Trouble and it was the perfect show for our current season. I’ve been avoiding anything too dark as there is already enough of that this time of year and Fleishman proved to be the perfect pick. Just enough humor and wit, while also being incredibly heartwarming and raw. The acting was amazing, as was the plot and it was filmed in a beautiful artistic way. Jack and I both really loved this one!

Bad Sisters

The Garvey sisters are brought back together when their brother-in-law passes and when his death turns into a murder case the sisters are suddenly prime suspects. Bad Sisters is an Irish dark comedy with incredible acting, music, scenery and makes for the perfect bingeable watch!

Shantaram

Shantaram follows the life of recent prison escapee, Lin Ford, who plans to start life anew in India. But he soon falls in love and becomes entangled in more trouble and deceit. This was highly recommended by our community!

REACHER

Based on the bestselling novel, Killing Floor by Lee Child, Reacher tells the story of Jack Reacher a military police officer who is arrested for a murder he did not commit. Just finished Severance. It was so good! Highly recommend. I also really liked Ragnarok. I watched it reluctantly, but it became a favorite, and I can’t wait for the third season. Both are slow burns, but the characters are great. Thanks for your list.

I feel like I’m the only one on the planet who hasn’t seen The White Lotus yet – but I’m such a serial show monogamist I can only handle one at a time! I think I’m bumping it up to next on my list (after I finish The Crown, that is!).
