Bathroom Renovation: The Before

When I went to write this post I realized I didn’t take any before photos of our bathroom. Probably because I didn’t want any of you to see it! Craig took a ton of video so once we publish the full video reveal you’ll get a chance to see the transformation. For now, I wanted to share some inspiration and choices we made for the master bathroom.

Our bathroom renovation is a big job. We (and by we I mean Craig) basically gutted it down to the studs. For the shower, we decided to keep the tub because it was in good shape and would’ve been very labor intensive to remove it. We chose a beautiful white mosaic tile to refinish the shower. Paired with brass shower/tub fixtures and hardware it has an old meets modern feel. When we discovered Lowe’s now carries painted tile we jumped at the chance to be one of the first to try it out. This gorgeous black and white tile is going on the floor (replacing two layers of linoleum Craig had to rip up). We chose a simple and classic white vanity with a marble top. I wanted to keep the look of the bathroom light and bright to let the floors really make a statement. A circular brass mirror (under $50!) and painted shiplap (we chose Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore) keep it bright and clean. We’re about a week from finishing and I can’t wait to show you the final result. It’s been an incredible transformation. Stay tuned for the final reveal and subscribe to my Youtube channel so you don’t miss it.

I love what you’ve picked out so far for your bathroom reno. I have chantilly lace painted in my bathroom as well. In the future I’d like to redo my shower, it’s a stand up stall that is lined with a plastic shell I think and requires a shower curtain. I’d like to tile the stall and frame the shower with a gorgeous glass door. Maybe next year. Good luck with your reno, I can’t wait to see the results!
