Jess Ann Kirby A Little Site Refresh

I will be the first to admit that I spend way too much time obsessing over my site design. I think this is a problem most bloggers (or any small business owner with a website) can relate to. At least once a month I look at my site and think I need to start over and do something completely different. Eventually I come to my senses and realize I don’t have the time or the money to do that (and also, it’s unnecessary!). That said, it definitely felt like a good time to give the site a little refresh. I have a regular contributor now, Kelley, and (mostly) consistent childcare, which means more content. Blogging is my bread and butter as the saying goes, and I’m really excited to do more of that.

A Little Site Refresh!

With more content coming to the blog, we switched things up a bit on the homepage, and I hope it makes things easier for you to navigate and find. This site refresh is happening in phases, so there will be some other minor updates coming to post pages and other pages throughout the site in the coming weeks.

I wanted to point out a few new features and also ask for your feedback. If there’s anything that you think would make it easier to find what you’re looking for when you’re here, I’m all ears! Shout out to my developer Lisa (if you’re looking for a great blog theme check out her customizable Wordpress themes, they’re beautiful and user friendly. I used one for Vermont Foliage!).

the latest content

At the top of the site now you’ll find all the latest content. These are the blog posts from the last week or so. Blog posts will go live Monday-Saturday. Click. Read. Love. which used to be posted on Fridays will no go live Saturday mornings.

There’s now a section for popular content. These are the posts that are getting the most attention, comments, etc. Now you can easily find the posts that everyone else is reading and enjoying. These will update regularly.

Categories

There’s a few way to find content based on categories. On the home page you can find the latest content for Style, Beauty, Home, Click. Read. Love, Travel, and Trader Joe’s (yup we gave TJ’s it’s own category). The menu at the top of the site has even more categories to choose from if you’re looking for something specific. For example you can look at spring and summer style content, or the latest book, tv, and podcast recs. You can also find the shop page in the top menu, including for Instagram, if you’re looking for outfit details from something posted there.

I hope this little site refresh makes your experience more enjoyable and I’m excited to share more content with you on all the things we love. As always, thanks for being here!

I completely understand what you mean about obsessing over site design. It’s so easy to get caught up in wanting to make cookie clicker 2 everything perfect, but at the end of the day, it’s important to remember that content is key.
