You may remember last year when I shared some of my favorite products from Sephora’s new eco-conscious beauty category, the Sephora Clean + Planet Positive Seal. It’s given to eco-conscious brands that meet specific pillars of the program (more on that below). Today I have four awesome products to share (some new to me and some I’ve been using a long time). They all have two things in common, they’re all Clean + Planet Positive and available at Sephora!
This post is in partnership with Sephora. Thank you for supporting the brands that support me.
Here’s what it means to have the Clean + Planet Positive Seal at Sephora:
Clean at Sephora means brand products formulated without phthalates, formaldehyde or formaldehyde releasers, oxybenzone and octinoxate, hydroquinone, triclosan, coal tar, and more.
This means brands designing packaging with recyclability in mind. Innovating with refillable components, post-consumer recycled content (PCR), biomaterials, plant-based ink and more.
Cruelty-free, using only sustainably harvested palm oil and mica, and no microplastics.
Brands must meet at least one of the following climate goals: carbon-neutral operations, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, or corporate office and owned or leased operations powered by 100% renewable energy.
Brand must donate at least 1% of profit to a high-impact, long-term giving program that is multiyear and ongoing, or be a Certified B-corporation.
4 Great Clean and Eco-Conscious Products from Sephora
If you follow me anywhere on the internet you know by now how much I LOVE this cream bronzer from Saie. It’s lightweight, buildable, melts into your skin, looks absolutely gorgeous and also gives the best natural looking sun-kissed glow. It’s also made with skin soothing ingredients like colloidal oatmeal and vitamin E to hydrate skin. Saie also happens to be one of my favorite eco-conscious, clean beauty brands with plans to be carbon-neutral by 2023. In addition, Saie uses ethically sourced ingredients, recyclable components, and their cartons are made from 100% FSC recycled paper in a carbon-neutral facility.
I like to apply the bronzer on my cheekbones, jawline and hairline (wearing shade light bronze below). You can see a video of how I apply it here.
This is a really cool brand I discovered through Sephora. So if you’re looking for something for more mature skin, the alpyn beauty Melt Moisturizer with Bakuchiol and Squalane is a great option. So many of my favorite skincare ingredients in one product including aloe and squalane for hydration, bakuchiol for lines, and vitamin C for boosting radiance. It has an almost matte feel on the skin so it’s great under makeup and for summer (wearing it in the above photo under my makeup). alpyn beauty donates a portion of sales to 1% for the Planet. In addition, their cartons are made of 100% recycled paper content and they use recyclable glass, FSC-certified paper, and vegetable-based inks.
I’ve been using this for over a year and it’s my go to eye cream at night. It’s rich and creamy and incredibly hydrating. It’s great for my super dry skin. And the Marine Algae Peptide Complex helps to target fine lines and wrinkles. Of course I also love that it’s cruelty free, vegan and has no synthetic fragrance. It’s formulated with hydrating, sustainably sourced squalane too (they save 2 millions sharks annually through sugarcane derived squalane). For my dry skin and under eyes it has been a game changer.
In my endless quest to understand as much as I can about skincare I’ve recently learned a lot about peptides after one of my estheticians recommended I try a moisturizer with peptides. I was so excited about this new product, Youth to the People Polypeptide-121 Future Cream. Collagen is made of three polypeptide chains. So adding peptides can build a stronger skin barrier and make skin appear more plump and firm. Sign me up! YTTP also supports nonprofits that are working to mitigate the warming of the planet, advocate for renewable energy, and advocate and educate on net zero emission strategies. They also reduce plastic waste by using glass for their bottles and jars. I’ve been using this cream at night and it has been great.
