If you live in a place that’s cold (freezing) at least half of the year, then you know the feeling of being so fed up with your go-to winter coat, only to realize that it’s mid-season and you still have three more months of wearing this and only this. Just me? I hope not… #realNewEnglandwinter
January is when the cold really sets in, yet by this point I’ve been throwing on the same one or two coats for the past two months. Honestly, it makes me feel even more ‘blah’ than the freezing slush outside does. So, I’m determined to feel better about that same old winter uniform by picking up some cold weather accessories to add something new to the mix.
To me, a hat is where I’ll always start when it comes to cold weather accessories. Not only are they extremely functional/necessary, but they also can add so much style to a look. Whether you prefer something more trendy or enjoying sticking to the classics, a good hat is a winter must-have.
Another winter must have is a warm pair of gloves. For a long time I really didn’t care what gloves I’d throw on while walking out the door… but then last year I noticed a woman on the street in a thick wool coat and a pair of beige leather gloves and I was sold. There was so much ‘put togetherness’ about her, and I give all of the credit to those gloves!
Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like scarves are underrated. Whenever I see some street style inspiration involving an oversized blanket scarf wrapped up tight or a lightweight cashmere version adding extra dimension to an outfit, I always think, “why aren’t I doing that?!” Scarves are an awesome way to revive your winter wardrobe.
***FYI this Barbour Beadnell wax jacket is on sale right now!
While often dismissed as strictly a warm weather accessory, sunglasses can be a super fun way to finish off an outfit, even in the winter. In contrast to summer where I’m reaching for wire frames and lightweight styles, winter is the time when I feel more comfortable experimenting with something more bold.
