How to Style Denim on Denim this Summer

Two things I love, jeans and jean jackets. Put them together and you’ve got yourself a denim sandwich. Wearing double denim can be tricky, and it can also go horribly wrong (case in point). But if you follow a few simple steps you’re almost guaranteed to nail it. First, distressing is y0ur friend, to a point. If you wear jeans with some rips or a raw hem, make sure the top half is the opposite. You don’t want rips on rips on rips. Next, keep your accessories simple. You definitely want to make sure you accessorize to break up all the denim but don’t go too crazy. I kept my straw tote in the same color family as my sweater to keep this look chic. Also, play with proportion. I went with a slimmer leg jean and slightly cropped hem and paired it with a boxier, boyfriend fit jean jacket. The sweater is slouchy but not too big and bulky for a relaxed feel. And last, heels always help. I tried this outfit on with flat sandals and it just didn’t look the same. If you’re wearing shorts instead of jeans a lower heel or flat is definitely appropriate. So who’s ready to try it? Or already has? Let me know!
